Summary
A
farmer, called Steve Marsh, sued another farmer and his ex-friend, Michael
Baxter.
Marsh
said that Baxter’s GM crop drifted onto his crops and sheep. As a result, his
organic certification was cancelled and he lost amount of profit by the GM crops.
Mr.
Marsh asked a financial compensation and the GM crop should be banned for plantation.
However,
the judge said that Baxter only needed to pay Marsh for his financial loss for
Marsh. It is not necessary to stop planting the legal GM crops. Otherwise, the
US Company Monsanto claims that the GM crop “were harmless to animals, people
and land even if consumed.”
